Decline in Health

By the time William was notified of his removal from the army, he had another major issue to deal with. He wrote to the Repat. Dept., from Woorooloo Sanitorium on 21st August 1934 (50 km east or Perth), seeking his cheques be sent to there as he had tuberculosis. [143]

Transcript:

“Police Dept. phoned that this ex-Imperial Soldier had been Certified under the Mental Treatment Act but absolutely refused to accompany the officer. Wished to know if the Dept would accept responsibility. After referring to CC informed him that we could accept no responsibility for mental trouble.”

[143] My father Brian Sheridan Buzzard (late of the Royal Australian Air Force - WW 2, accompanied by my brother Brian Buzzard, visited Woorooloo Sanitorium in the 1950’s. My father was heavily involved in the R.S.L in Toodyay, W.A. and they thought it fitting to visit inmates of the sanitorium, some of which were WW1 veterans.
